Comment on Rapunzel

Comment on Rapunzel

We went to see the Rapunzel theatre. I think seeing live theatre is amazing because instead of watching it on TV you can see it in real life and real people are acting out their roles. My favourite part was when Rupee’s pants fell down that was what you call real theatre comedy. The people in my class laughed and laughed until things got pretty serious and by that I mean kissing. Rapunzel kissed the prince and she also kissed the bad guy Simon cow, but at the end Simon cow was the good guy.

Plight of the Sea Turtle

Plight of the sea turtle

The story of the plight of the sea turtle is about sea turtles lives. It is also about how we should look after sea turtles and their habitats. It even tells us why we need to look after the sea turtles and how they are surviving in the hot temperate Pacific Ocean.

The big problem is people. People do illegal stuff with the sea turtles like sell Sea turtles in the black market. They get gains from their selling and as well eat the meat. People throw their rubbish to the shore. Plastics are the biggest trash they throw and it became a problem for the sea creatures. They get tangled in their necks and they get choked with the plastics. Plastic bags are the biggest problem out in the sea.
Another problem is we as people use plastic bags for shopping instead of proper shopping bags that are not made out of plastic. One more problem is people trash their habitats. Predators eat the eggs and as well the baby sea turtles. It is tough for sea turtle to survive.

Yes there is a solution to the problem but it requires our help. We need to look after the beaches and keep the water as pure as the blue sky. We should stop the black market selling of sea turtle shells and meat. Never buy such stuff produced from sea turtle shell and other animals. Also please never ever kill sea turtles, and destroy their homes. We try to cherish them forever and ever.

Fun Facts
  • Sea Turtles only live in the Pacific ocean and in places that is hot and temperate.
  • Screenshot 2014-11-19 at 8.33.28 AM.pngThey do not live in N.Z because we live close to the north pole.
  • Their shell is called a carapace
  • These turtles have lived for over 215 million years
  • many species of these turtles are endangered

Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus was born in Italy October 31st 1451 and died in Spain. Christopher Columbus found Cuba in 1492 then sailed for Haiti in 1791. He was known well for sailing the sea and discovering the world. Christopher Columbus started his expedition when he was a teenager. Christopher Columbus was very curious about his sailing he also met lots of famous people along the way. Columbus also set sail for Spain. He set sail for heaps of countries. He was the best sailor that has died now. He never had to walk the plank. He thought travelling through the west to India would be a faster way, but when someone reject his idea in Portugal he went to spain to visit the king Ferdinand and queen Isabella. Then he told the queen the idea and she was delighted with the idea about travelling west to get to India.  Then the queen gave Columbus the financing to travel through  the west. He also travelled with Nina Santa Maria and Pinta After two months Columbus and his crew arrived in Bahamas and they were convinced that was India. When they arrived Columbus could not resist the gold that they were wearing. He had to prove that there was wealth there. Columbus was a great sailor and it was indeed he started at a very young age. and that was his journey in his sailing world. His discovery of America was by accident. He loved his sailing because it was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life.Screenshot 2014-11-20 at 8.31.30 AM.png

New IPHONE 6 and WATCH!!!

New Iphone 6 and Iwatch

YES! the new iphone 6 is out I am actually not happy about this. These apple people keep on bringing out new apple products.

Screenshot 2014-10-23 at 7.54.16 AM.pngI mean what's next  the iphone 7 and a icamera like thats going to happen what if it does? They don’t even make the software content better only the look of it. People are just wasting their money buying these uncool and not unique phones. The apple people are just getting more money, for a production that just changed the looks, yeah thats right apple genius’s.

I think you guys should stop making new things and take a  break then when people really want new phones that’s when you guys should start making new phones.

Mary Mackillop center

Visit to Mary Mackillop Center
We went to the Mary Mackillop Center because our school was celebrating our 60th Diamond Jubilee. I was struck by this incredible statue. But it was not just any old statue, it was a statue of St Joseph. I think the statue was estimated to be of 80 years old.                                               The statue of St. Joseph looked so humble and pure for St. Joseph was really a humble man.

Screenshot 2014-11-05 at 7.19.23 AM.pngI never knew our school was 60 years old, cool right! The sun was shining on the incredible indescribable statue. I can feel the breeze of the lovely wind going over my face. As it swiftly passes my face, the gentle touch of the breeze is soothing and calming me at that moment. I can hear the lovely noise of birds chirping while they are flying. It sounds like music to my ears as they noisily chirp away. They are frequent visitors of the place.

I can see Rangitoto Island just across the shore standing erect and with its beauty. It is a breathtaking view from where I am standing! The statue impressed me more as I look at it. It is full of history. This statue is facing Rangitoto Island. I think it is protecting that island. I can feel the power and presence of St. Joseph in the place and as well with the sisters, guarding them day by day. I am wondering why they have put them in that position. I think they have a reason.  St Joseph represents the Josephite sisters, his charism and his love for God. The sisters lived here close to 80 years.  I have also heard that Mary Mackillop has lived here too. They have kept the statue for so long. Indeed St. Joseph has a place in their hearts.

I hope to go there soon again because of the view and the way the sisters of Mary Mackillop act with humility and kindness. Its lovely to feel so special.

The tree with no name

The tree with no name legend

There was a family that starved because there was no rain. So the man sang to the tree of his troubles. Oh tree with no name my throat is dry I am thirsty I will go to Marondera how I wish I could find something to eat. Then yummy proper food fell out of the tree. After that he went home with a full belly. When he got home his wife had prepared dinner but he said I do not want to eat because he ate the food from the tree. So his daughter wondered why his dads tummy was fat. So then the next day when the dad went to the tree again his daughter followed him to the tree and the dad had no idea she was following him. She hid behind the rock and the dad sang. My wife is so greedy she eats all of the dinner look how I grow thinner and thinner the daughter was so surprise yummy proper delicious food came out of the tree with no name. Then the daughter ran to her mum and told her that there is a magical amazing tree come tomorrow when dad goes to the tree we will hide behind the rock and see what dad eats. Ok we will see said her mum. So the dad did not eat he insisted that his family should eat first and the mum wondered why he would not eat she thought maybe my daughter is right. So then the next day the daughter following with the mum followed the dad and hid behind the rock the father began to sing suddenly the mum sprang in front of him and sang This greedy selfish husband thats mine eats alone while the children starve. Suddenly the tree began to shake and to the mothers intention  down came yummy proper delicious succulent food came down. Then the mother and daughter and baby ate as much as they could when the father tried to eat the food was too bitter for him to swallow so he spat it out immediately. Thats the legend of the tree with no name.

Tree grows 40 fruit!

The tree grows 40 fruit
Award winning artist and also professor, Sam van Aken’s latest creation has mixed flawless art with science and also gardening, to create a tree that grows 40 fruit!

The tree can grow 40 varieties of plums, peaches, apricots, nectarines, cherries also this its an nut called almond  and more.
Screenshot 2014-09-11 at 7.54.27 AM.pngSams mix of fruit tree creation is better than loom bands and due to the fact that some of these fruits are ancient. This tree is so rare to come across. The tree itself is marvellous and an inspiring work of art and in stunning colour. The colour of the tree is crimson, pink, purple and with a touch of white blooms. Sam has placed sixteen unique forty fruit trees around the USA museums around the community.  Isn't that amazing?

Sam hopes his creation will be famous around the world and that it will teach people about the different fruit like peaches, plums and apricots that were ancient fruit.  Also one query why you cannot get as many in shops.

NO VOTE FOR ME!

NO VOTE FOR ME!
Some of these politicians may have the looks, the talk and the money cha ching$ but do they have the votes to conquer John Key. Labour could do that but the rest of them have a one in a million chance!

I think we all know who will always win the elections I don’t even need to say the name but for those who do not know who I will say it John Key. I mean people really should not be interested about the elections its not like someone could just walk in and win the elections even school students yeah school students should have the right to not be interested in these elections. No campaign or kind of smartness could change peoples minds about who to vote for. How can people trust these candidates. They are surely DIRTY politics!

Whatever after sink or swim

Whatever after
sink or swim book review
The book whatever after sink or swim is an amazing book. This book sink or swim is a fascinating book about a brother and a sister their names are Jonah which is the brother and the sisters name is Abby. They have a magic mirror that takes them to any fairy tail like Cinderella, Snow White’s fairy tale and also Rapunzels fairy tale. This book is also about Abby and Jonah changing the little mermaids story Abby and Jonah mostly change the end parts of the fairy tales. I don’t like this book I love it because they change the fairy tales and make them more exciting and longer, The part I love in this book is when Abby says that she forgot her pyjamas at Snow whites haha very typical. I recommend this book for grades 3-6.

Te Taha Wai Marae

Te Taha Wai Marae
By: Gina
We went to a marae on 19th  of August. First we had to wait behind the waharoa because we could not just go in also because it is sacred land.

Once we heard the lady say haere mai we got to walk through the waharoa. I was so nervous it was like I wanted to smirk but I did not it was cool. We had to pause for little while to think of our ancestors those are our great great great grandparents. Then we continued to walk the walk till we got to the steps of the marae. We had to take of our shoes and leave them next to each other after that we got to go inside. I was so excited because it was my first time in a marae. The boys had to sit in the front and the girls at the back. Joshua K did his Mihi,  and Joshua J did the speech. We learnt about the ancestors that were carved on the wall and they showed peoples names in a story way. We also ate a one biscuit and one cup of water that was our morning tea because we were not allowed to bring our bags. After that we splitted up into two groups and did different activities.  We did weaving and an action song I forgot what it was called and how it went. Then we got to feel the ancestors they felt like good timber.  We also drew a bookmark of them. Suddenly we had to go and I was grateful that I had got an opportunity to go in an marae.Screenshot 2014-09-04 at 07.56.09.png

Dear dumb diary
book
review

The book dear dumb diary is about a girl who has a diary, And the stuff she writes about is true or at least as true as it needs to be. This  girls name is called Jamie Kelly. she hates where she comes from and her favourite place is…  ELSEWHERE! and her favourite food is foreign food. I sort of like this book because they make it like  a real diary. The reason why I don’t like is because at the end it just changes tone. I recommend this book for ages 7-9. This book is by Jim Benton he has wrote 16 books. He is an amazing author. I hope you read his books especially this one.

Science showcase

Science Showcase
Yesterday there was a science showcase. I liked it because I was in charge of the lava lamp and that meant I got to put the alka-seltzer (pills) in the bottle it was cool because the lava lamp has molecules that move up and down.

I also learnt that you can make a magnetic charge with metal. Isn't that awesome! I even learnt that in things there's very tiny things called particles.

I would really love to have a science showcase again. Because
they help me learn new words and new stuff they even help me learn what equipment scientists use.

Finding China

Finding China
My name is Gina  I live in Auckland. I have an amazing story to tell!  I've always wanted to go to China, In Shanghai so that's when I told my parents. My mum and dad said, “ yes”  and me and my family were excited.

When I got to china I could not speak Mandarin but then I got used to the language and  could respond back in Mandarin! It took me a few days to settle into China. The school there was challenging and difficult most specially learning the language.  My parents worked alot in Auckland so I boarded in school. There were two problems one of them was the lack of privacy for there were no doors for the toilets! But it was fine cause we were all girls unfortunately for the boys there was worse and when I say worse I mean worse there were tissues everywhere and the taps were dripping and so the girls could not sleep while the tap was dripping. The second problem was… I had no friends literally. But I had found a solution to that I mingled and that's how I made a friend.

Screenshot 2014-05-08 at 07.23.50.pngLooking back   Auckland made me realize I've become my own person besides that. The school cafeteria food is yuck back  in Auckland I would have had  rice and mince with vegetables and meat mmm… And the school beds had bugs I tell you bugs! so thats why I got… Itchy bites. Back home I would not have itchy bites. Well you see what
I had to live with!!!

That was my experience of finding China.

Dolfino

Screenshot 2014-04-17 at 10.20.02.png

Dolfino

The Dolfino eats seaweed and dry grass.
It lives on dry land near the sea.
It survives by eating or fighting anything that comes in its way.
This Dolfino has a long mouth sort of like a kiwi but its shorter.
Its body is so fluffy like cotton wool.
Its tail is blonde like human hair.
I am so excited of this animal because of its name and I can share it with others.

Marie Curies experience

  Marie Curie’s experience
Marie Curie was a Polish girl and half French. She was born in 7th November 1867. Marie Curie was curious to find out what x-rays mean. A few weeks later, her experiments lead her to her theory. She did not mind being the first lady to get a doctor's degree. The atom is the tiniest most basic building block. In the universe, people believed it would be stable and unbreakable but  Marie Curie believed x-rays came from the Uranium atom.
People doubted her because they thought she was wrong.  Marie discovered a radioactive material called radium, she had found a new element! To find radium Marie Curie did the work of scientist and a slave for sometime. She was curious  this. She would gather wood for an outside fire, then put a giant pot on top. She would treat each ton of rock with a bucket of water, 5 or 6 tons of burning acid, Then she would stir it with a big metal spoon and the mixture itself burnt  Marie Curie with lightning then she decided to mix it inside the fumes got tense, but she did not give up.
Screenshot 2014-05-15 at 08.41.43.pngAfter her graduation Marie curie got a husband named Pierre and  he was Marie’s assistant. He also discovered that x-rays are stronger than Atom amanaim. Marie curie was the first ever lady to get her doctors degree. She was humble and a true role model she pursued her dreams, until she died.
